Wednesday 3rd

Hello fellow Kaplan students. I guess I'll start with this. I am getting my degree in medical transcription. I am kind of worried I have chosen a career that will soon be obsolete. Does anyone have any opinions?

  1. Wendy - that is a good question! I have worked as a transcriptionist before, but not in the medical field. Does anyone know?

  2. Wendy,

I too am getting my degree in Medical Transcription, and I also am kind of worried with some of the new technology that they won't have a use for us anymore, I am hoping that is not the case but as of rigt now I am going to continue with degree go as far as I can with it and hopefully land a good career and if not looks like it'll be back to college for a different degree for me but I will be very devistated and upset. Wish I had words of encouragement but at this point I don't know what is going to happen. Sorry.

  3. Hello Wendy,
I am going for Medical Coding and Billing. I have not heard anything about your chosen career being obselet. With all this new technology out there nothing would surprise me. I am also scared that my chosen career will be come obselete. I am trying to figure a way that medical transcriptionist would not be needed any longer. Someone would have to type out the notes that the physicians dictate.
